Softball Recap: Seven Straight Home Wins for Slaton

After only two runs in their last game, Slaton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Roosevelt on Saturday. Slaton was the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Roosevelt. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Guzman made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anelise Luera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February. Zuri Martinez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Slaton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roosevelt only posted an OBP of .250.

Slaton's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Slaton Tigers duke it out with Littlefield Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Slaton's pitchers better be ready for this one: Littlefield has averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Roosevelt, they will welcome Dimmitt at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt is facing Dimmitt at the right time seeing as Dimmitt is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
