The Conneaut Area Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Franklin. Conneaut Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Franklin apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Conneaut Area lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Furgiuele IV. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Furgiuele IV was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Cole Buckley was on fire for Franklin: he rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry.
Conneaut Area's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 2-7 Northwestern and 3-6 Franklin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37% over those games). As for Franklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.
Conneaut Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Franklin will be playing at home against Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
