2A-2 Region II District 6 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Nic Shimonek and MIKEY MUNCY provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Blooming Grove. The connection was good for 73 yards, the longest such play in 2A-2 Region II District 6 this season.
Tolar moved up to 641 from 740 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Rattlers were able to make the jump by beating Life Oak Cliff 61-12.
Mildred's dynamic duo of Shimonek and MUNCY proved tough for the Lions to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Shimonek threw for 336 yards and five touchdowns and MUNCY had 178 yards receiving. JOHNATHAN HARRISON helped Mildred's passing attack out by catching four balls for 89 yards.
Ragan Henderson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 248 yards on 32 carries as Rice bested Blooming Grove. Teammate Chris Atchley added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
Mildred's Shimonek and MUNCY have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A-2 Region II District 6 in both passing and receiving yards. Shimonek has thrown for 863 yards this season, while MUNCY, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 13 catches for 314 yards. The Bulldogs' Henderson leads the league in rushing yards with 883.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Patrick Harvell's team takes on Rio Vista. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while the Eagles are in seventh.
Mildred took down the Lions 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Shimonek ran for 82 yards in the win.
