The Loudonville Redbirds will challenge the Wooster Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wooster took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Loudonville, who comes in off a win.
While Loudonville's victory against Lucas wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Loudonville skirted past Lucas 10-8. The Redbirds haven't had any issues with the Cubs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Addison Wolford was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Alesha Felix was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Loudonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wooster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Buckeye.
Sydney McAfoos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Kennedy Russell and Kara Cannon did some serious damage despite the final result: Russell scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Cannon scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Russell also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Wooster's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Loudonville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Wooster's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Loudonville has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Wooster, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Loudonville's sizable advantage in that area, Wooster will need to find a way to close that gap.
