After flying high against the McIntosh Tigers last Friday, the Takini Skyhawks came back down to earth. Takini fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Rylee Veal was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with seven rebounds and two steals for Bison. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Veal has scored at least a third of Bison's points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Stadler, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Takini's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Bison, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.
Takini's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on February 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Dakota (Oelrichs is ranked 157th, while the Skyhawks are ranked 143rd). As for Bison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
