Pickens has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Greenville Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Pickens came up short against the Green Wave and fell 38-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pickens has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Pickens saw an underclassman step up: Ava Owens scored nine points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maggie Chambers, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Greenville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-31 loss to the Eagles on Monday. While losing is never fun, Greenville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Eagles are ranked 18th).
Pickens' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Greenville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.
Pickens beat the Red Raiders 47-40 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Does Pickens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
