Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Joya). They were the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over the McAllen Bulldogs on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Coyotes sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Gael Zambrano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Zambrano was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Ortiz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. La Joya (ranked 215th) will meet Los Fresnos (ranked sixth) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, McAllen will challenge Sharyland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 438 places (544 vs. 106).
