After a string of six wins, the Vidor Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 77-38 loss at the hands of Silsbee. Vidor has not had much luck with Silsbee recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Vidor's loss came despite strong showings from Raegan Stephenson and Madison Powell. Stephenson scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Powell scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Stephenson scored a full 52.6% of Vidor's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Vidor's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Silsbee, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Vidor will take on Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Little Cypress-Mauriceville's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so Vidor's offense will have their work cut out for Vidor. As for Silsbee, they will head out on the road to face off against Lumberton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lumberton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 966th, while Silsbee is ranked 83rd).
