Special teams efforts highlight this week's edition.

James Raines of Berry (Ala.) has put together a season-worth of stats in his last two games against Brilliant (Ala.) and his performance last week is the top passing effort on the list of national high school football stat stars.

Raines threw for 563 yards and eight touchdowns in a 71-22 win over Brilliant on Friday. The yardage was just two yards short of the state record of 565 set by Chris Smelley of American Christian. His eight touchdowns were one short of the state record set last year by Raines in a 68-0 win over Brilliant.

Two players who managed to set state records include Jonah Barnett of Mt. Gilead (Ohio) and Terrell Brown of Basha (Chandler, Ariz.).

Barnett tied the state record for rushing touchdowns in a game with nine in a 64-49 win over Crooksville (Ohio). Barnett ran for 492 yards on 38 carries for the top rushing performance in the nation last week.

Brown, meanwhile, set the Class 5A receiving record with 332 yards in a 49-20 loss to Desert Vista. The previous mark was 329 yards by Josh Morrow of Mountain Ridge (Glendale, Ariz.). The overall state record is 368 yards by Ben McKeighan of Scottsdale Prep.
