The Murray Tigers lost against the Calloway County Lakers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Murray took a serious blow against the Lakers, falling 63-22. Murray was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-11.
Calloway County found their leader in underclassman Sayler Lowe, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lowe has scored at least a third of Calloway County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Futrell, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals.
Murray's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Calloway County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Murray will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hickman County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Calloway County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Vikings at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. St. Mary will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Lakers are ranked 72nd).
