The Collegedale Academy Collegedale Eagle's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shenandoah Valley Academy. While losing is never fun, Collegedale Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 359th in Tennessee, while Shenandoah Valley Academy is ranked 173rd in Virginia).
Avery Browne was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven steals for Shenandoah Valley Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Browne has scored at least a third of Shenandoah Valley Academy's points. Joseph Pelote was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Collegedale Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Shenandoah Valley Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collegedale Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Andrews-Sewanee at 5:30 p.m. on January 15th. As for Shenandoah Valley Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eukarya Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
