Softball Recap: Everglades Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Everglades never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Miramar on Monday. They walked away with a 21-18 victory over the Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 29-8 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Vi Quain, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (five). Genesis Medina-Diaz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Everglades kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

With the win, Everglades broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7. As for Miramar, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Everglades will venture away from home to square off against Varela at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vipers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Miramar, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-15 victory against Hollywood Hills on the 22nd.
