Lowell has gone 8-2 against Highland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Red Devils will head out to take on the Trojans at 6:45 p.m. Lowell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Lowell is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since April 17th on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kankakee Valley 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Red Devils as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Olivia Fuentes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Preslee Hill and Peyton Lonardi did most of the damage at the plate: Hill went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Lonardi went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Highland had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Hammond Central on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Lowell, Highland also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyssa Niemann. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Niemann was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Hailey Thomas was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jordan Steele was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Central only posted an OBP of .105.
Lowell's record is now 8-4. As for Highland, their record now sits at 8-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Lowell hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lowell took their victory against Highland in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
