The Macon County Tigers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Stone Memorial 15-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Macon County also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Stone Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nick Osmun. Despite the final result, he rushed for 119 yards, and also threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Macon County's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Stone Memorial, White County, and Smith County. As for Stone Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Macon County will be playing in front of their home fans against Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Loudon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Macon County is ranked 49th). Stone Memorial is on the road again on Friday and play against Hixson at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
