The Havre de Grace Warriors posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 45-19 margin over Joppatowne. Given Havre de Grace's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Joppatowne is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Havre de Grace's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Lawrence, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawrence has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Azareya Whiting, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Havre de Grace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Joppatowne, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Havre de Grace will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Edgewood at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Edgewood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Joppatowne, they will head out on the road to face off against Kenwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Kenwood's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Joppatowne has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
