Baseball Recap: Fort Wayne Canterbury Has No Trouble Against Fremont

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fort Wayne Canterbury walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Fremont Eagles with a sharp 14-5 victory on Monday. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

JP Rohwer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Fort Wayne Canterbury: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Parker Evans was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two doubles. Fort Wayne Canterbury is undefeated when Evans posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Reed Hayes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Fort Wayne Canterbury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Fort Wayne Canterbury has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Fremont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season.

Fort Wayne Canterbury will challenge Triton on Saturday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Fremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
