Bethel is 1-9 against Miami East since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bees will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Bethel has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bethel lost 19-6 to Greenon on Saturday.
Allie Sheen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Grace Peirano also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Miami East entered their tilt with Milton-Union on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.
Jacqueline Kadel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Whitni Enis, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jaila Thurman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Miami East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive contests.
Miami East's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bethel, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bethel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Miami East struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bethel couldn't quite finish off Miami East in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Bees avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
