Basketball Recap: Meadville Falls Despite Big Games from Lexi Bartz and Kinlee Fletcher

If Meadville was feeling good fresh off their 60-35 takedown of Tina-Avalon last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Meadville Eagles lost 50-29 to the North Shelby Raiders on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Meadville's loss came despite strong showings from Kinlee Fletcher and Lexi Bartz. Fletcher posted nine points and eight boards, while Bartz scored 13 points. Fletcher has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Meadville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for North Shelby, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Meadville and Grundy County/Newtown-Harris will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Shelby, they will head out on the road to face off against Novinger at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
