The Conestoga Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Syracuse Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Conestoga has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
Conestoga struggled with assists on Tuesday (Douglas County West had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Conestoga was beaten by Douglas County West 76-34. While losing is never fun, Conestoga can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Douglas County West is ranked 120th).
Despite the loss, Conestoga had strong showings from Ayla Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, and Alyssa Batt, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Syracuse came up short against Milford on Thursday and fell 51-38.
Conestoga dropped their record down to 2-17 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Syracuse, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
Conestoga might still be hurting after the 67-42 loss they got from Syracuse when the teams last played back in January. Can Conestoga avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
