The Deltona Wolves fell victim to the University Titans''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 41-0 loss at the hands of the Titans. While losing is never fun, Deltona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 377th, while University is ranked 54th).
University got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Baker out in front who picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Walters, who threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Deltona to a paltry 21 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to University's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Mason Moore and his two sacks.
Deltona's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 DeLand and 7-3 Bishop Moore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70% over those games). As for University, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Deltona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. University will be playing in front of their home fans against New Smyrna Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Smyrna Beach is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
