It was a good run, but the Corliss Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They were outmatched by Carver at home and fell 42-14. While losing is never fun, Corliss can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Carver is ranked 172nd).
Carver had a senior duo take command as Astarte Washington scored 19 points and Destiny Ontiveros scored 17 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Washington has scored at least 25% of Carver's points.
Corliss' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Carver, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Corliss will take on Little Village at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Little Village: 13.2, Corliss: 20) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Carver, they will be playing at home against DuSable at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
