The Brimfield Indians will challenge the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Abingdon/Avon will be up against a hot Brimfield team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Indians never let Princeville get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. Considering the Indians have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Reese Legaspi, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kendyl Binder, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Brimfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Abingdon/Avon made sure to put some runs up on the board against River Ridge/Scales Mound on Saturday. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Wildcats. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tornadoes' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Ava Patch was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Stegall, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Brimfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Abingdon/Avon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Abingdon/Avon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brimfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. It's a different story for Abingdon/Avon, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Brimfield's hitters?
Everything went Brimfield's way against Abingdon/Avon in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Brimfield made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
