Jacobs and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jacobs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Jacobs took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Dundee-Crown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Chargers 9-7. The game was the first time the Golden Eagles have beaten the Chargers on their field since April 22, 2019.

Skylee Ferrante looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Talia Disilvio was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jianna Tanada, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Jacobs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Central hadn't done well against McHenry recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Rockets came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Rockets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Addisyn Petersen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Kelsey Covey and Mei Shirokawa did most of the damage at the plate: Covey scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Shirokawa scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Olivia Sutton was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Central's record is now 5-6. As for Jacobs, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-6.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jacobs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Jacobs' hitters?
Jacobs might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
