Basketball Game Preview: Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans vs. Clarke Central Gladiators

Having just played yesterday, the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans will jump right back in to play the Clarke Central Gladiators at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Greater Atlanta Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Greater Atlanta Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Chestatee 87-31 on Friday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the War Eagles are ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greater Atlanta Christian relied on the efforts of Mario Hill Jr, who made all 8 shots he took from beyond the arc for 32 points and four steals, and Mikey Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. The matchup was Hill Jr's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of KJ Braswell, who posted three points along with six rebounds and four blocks.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Greater Atlanta Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Clarke Central is still winless after their contest against Jackson County on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Panthers.

Greater Atlanta Christian pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.4 points per game. As for Clarke Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
