Basketball Recap: Marion County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Philip Wilson and Tye Madison

If Marion County was riding high fresh off their 69-24 takedown of Vina last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marion County Red Raiders fell 72-61 to the Hubbertville Lions on Friday. The Red Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Marion County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tye Madison, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 32 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Philip Wilson, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 13 boards, and ten assists. Madison has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Hollis, who posted five points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Marion County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hubbertville only racked up 11 assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hubbertville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kane Rushing, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 22 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Brand, who put up 16 points and seven boards.

Marion County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Hubbertville, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Marion County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-46 victory against Phillips on the 16th. As for Hubbertville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-51 win against Hackleburg on the 14th.
