Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 65-55 to the Wesson Cobras. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaymen Watler, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 18 points, to go along with eight boards and six steals. Watler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Thornton, who posted eight points, to go along with seven blocks and five boards.
Salem's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Wesson, they moved to 2-9 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.
Salem will head out to square off against Wesson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wesson, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 79-49 defeat against North Pike on the 7th.
