Football Recap: Vela Skates Past Harlingen with Ease

Vela was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Harlingen Cardinals 52-10. The Sabercats haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Vela got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was George Fauls out in front who picked up 154 receiving yards and two TDs. Fauls really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 85 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Castillo, who threw for 80 yards and three touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Vela proved: they limited Harlingen to a paltry 1.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Mario Cavazos, Jr. for the heroic effort on defense: he. Vela's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.3.
