The Montgomery Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Calvin Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calvin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Montgomery, who comes in off a win.
Montgomery entered their tilt with Buckeye with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Montgomery made off with a 43-42 win over Buckeye.
Montgomery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Z Gates, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Gates hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of A Manson, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Calvin's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quitman. Calvin has struggled against Quitman recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Their wins bumped Montgomery to 4-5 and Buckeye to 4-5.
Montgomery beat Calvin 44-35 when the teams last played back in December of 2018. Does Montgomery have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calvin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
