Freedom has gone 8-2 against Fox Valley Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Irish will be playing at home against the Foxes at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Freedom 3.8, Fox Valley Lutheran 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Freedom's offense. They lost 6-0 to Luxemburg-Casco on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 14, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Freedom saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jovie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Fox Valley Lutheran put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Denmark, sneaking past 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the Foxes as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Madison Babcock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
Fox Valley Lutheran hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
Fox Valley Lutheran pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Freedom, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freedom hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Fox Valley Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
