The Coronado Dons's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Apache Junction with a sharp 46-23 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Coronado has posted since December 27, 2023.
Ariel Douglas was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Miranda Moreno was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Coronado's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Apache Junction, their loss was their 21st straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Coronado will square off against Vista Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Vista Grande's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Apache Junction, they will be playing at home against Dysart at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dysart has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games.
