De La Salle has gone a perfect 10-0 against DePaul College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Meteors will square off against the Rams at 11:00 a.m. De La Salle will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
De La Salle came out on top against Trinity on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Meteors put the hurt on the Blazers with a sharp 12-2 win. The Meteors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lilah Serrano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Analise Francois was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Trendle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was IC Catholic Prep who claimed the real prize. The Rams fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
De La Salle's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for DePaul College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18.
De La Salle came out on top in a nail-biter against DePaul College Prep in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Meteors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
