Basketball Recap: Aquinas Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Aquinas extended their road winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Bryant Stouffer. The Aquinas Monarchs managed a 53-49 victory over the Kearney Catholic Stars on Saturday thanks in part to Stouffer, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Several Stars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zac Conner, who posted 18 points and five boards. Those 18 points gave Conner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Axmann, who earned 13 points and five rebounds.

Aquinas has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Kearney Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aquinas will challenge Bishop Neumann at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Aquinas is facing Bishop Neumann at the right time seeing as Bishop Neumann is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Kearney Catholic, they will square off against Lincoln Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Kearney Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
