The Rockbridge Academy Scots will challenge Mount Airy Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Rockbridge Academy's win against Perry Hall Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Scots skirted past Perry Hall Christian 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Scots have posted since April 22, 2024.
Evan Tessneer made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Tessneer was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Tessneer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Samuel Parlette, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mount Airy Christian Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Perry Hall Christian on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mount Airy Christian Academy.
Like Rockbridge Academy, Mount Airy Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Charlie Kichler. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Kichler was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Carson Gilbert was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Joey Stanton was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Mount Airy Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rockbridge Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Everything went Rockbridge Academy's way against Mount Airy Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Rockbridge Academy made off with a 10-0 win.
