The Austin Achieve Polar Bears's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over San Juan Diego Catholic. The victory was just what Austin Achieve needed coming off of a 74-31 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the defeat, San Juan Diego Catholic had strong showings from Max Duarte, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Armando Garza, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Duarte scored a full 32.7% of San Juan Diego Catholic's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan McCormick, who scored 9 points.
Austin Achieve pushed their record up to 3-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for San Juan Diego Catholic, they have fallen quite a ways from their 25-10-1 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Austin Achieve is on the road again on Thursday and play against Lago Vista at 9:30 a.m. on December 7th. As for San Juan Diego Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Griffin School at 7:00 p.m. Griffin School comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
