It was a good run, but the Southern Wayne Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-30 loss at the hands of Hunt. Southern Wayne was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-13.
Southern Wayne's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Destiny Bullock, who scored seven points, and Kymora Stokes who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Ti'asia Taylor was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Hunt. The matchup was Taylor's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Harrison, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Southern Wayne has fallen quite a ways from their 20-8 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Hunt, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wayne will challenge South Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Johnston will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Hunt, they will head out on the road to face off against East Wake at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. East Wake has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 24.
