Mount Horeb extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 8-3 in the process. They came out on top against the Portage Warriors by a score of 6-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.
Jayse Holman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lauren Mester was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Delaina Nicewander, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mount Horeb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive matches.
As for Portage, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
On Portage's side, Jackie Seiler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Coming up, Mount Horeb will challenge Baraboo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
