Pine Tree is on a three-game streak of home losses, Texas a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Pine Tree Pirates will take on the Texas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Tree's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Pine Tree fell victim to Longview's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. Their tough 6-0 loss to the Lobos might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Pine Tree can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Longview is ranked 85th).
Meanwhile, Texas also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to Mt. Pleasant on Friday.
Pine Tree has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-4 record this season. As for Texas, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6-1.
Pine Tree was able to grind out a solid win over Texas in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 3-1. Will Pine Tree repeat their success, or does Texas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
