Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Los Alamos Hilltoppers walked away with it. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-13 victory over Highland. Los Alamos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.
Kyle Evenhus was a one-man wrecking crew for Los Alamos as he threw for 321 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Haiden Jorgenson, who picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Highland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amiri Mumba. Despite the final result, he rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown. Mumba has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played.
Los Alamos' win was their third straight at home , which pushed their record up to 9-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.33 points. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Los Alamos will head out on the road to face off against Artesia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Highland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
