It was a good run, but the Lakeland Christian Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 69-57 to Mulberry. Lakeland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mulberry apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
D.j. Howard and Nate Carpenter certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Howard scored 20 points along with five assists, while Carpenter scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Howard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Stephens, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lakeland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Mulberry, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will square off against Out-of-Door Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mulberry, they will head out on the road to take on Discovery at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mulberry in Florida (Discovery is ranked 183rd, while Mulberry is ranked 481st).
