After a string of seven wins, The Wilson Bulldogs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-34 bruising from Manheim Township. While losing is never fun, Wilson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Manheim Township is ranked third).
Madyx Gruber and Tommy Hunsicker certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Gruber picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Hunsicker threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes.
Hayden Johnson was his usual excellent self, throwing for 275 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Declan Clancy was another key contributor, gaining 169 total yards and two touchdowns.
Wilson's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Manheim Township, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0.
Wilson will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Cumberland Valley at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Cumberland Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Manheim Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
