The Riverside Warriors will take on the Sissonville Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Riverside blew Sherman out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Sherman got their revenge. The Warriors fell just short of the Tide by a score of 4-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sissonville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand South Charleston a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jozey Wilson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Sissonville got a massive performance out of Jayme Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Allyson Jarrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Sissonville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverside hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Sissonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .330. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Sissonville by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
