When it comes to explaining why Colorado Springs Christian lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Jace Velasquez. Despite the final result, he threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
Tray Cardwell was on fire for Buena Vista: he rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Eli Schuknecht and his 89 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Buena Vista's victory.
Colorado Springs Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Buena Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Colorado Springs Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buena Vista will head out on the road to face off against Meeker at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Meeker is ranked 72nd, while Buena Vista is ranked 86th).
