The Ajo Red Raiders stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 52-30 margin over Harvest Prep Academy. Given Ajo's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Harvest Prep Academy is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Harvest Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: KJ Legette dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Legette is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Jonathon Armas was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Ajo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Harvest Prep Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Ajo will head out on the road to take on BASIS - Mesa at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ajo will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something BASIS - Mesa surely won't give up without a fight. Harvest Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
