Galena had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt West Carroll on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers stepped up to hand the Thunder a 14-0 shutout. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

The victory (which was Galena's sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for West Carroll, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
