Colton Barraza was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and four RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tate Gitchell, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Andrew Bodel was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Pershing County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Wendover on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 9-8. The Mustangs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Like Incline, Pershing County also got a great game from a two-way player: Trenton Rhodes. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Rhodes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ayden Montes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Pershing County: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Landon Fitzpatrick also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Pershing County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Incline, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Everything went Incline's way against Pershing County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Incline made off with a 15-5 win. Will Incline repeat their success, or does Pershing County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
