Softball Game Preview: Lower Dauphin Falcons vs. Red Land Patriots

The Lower Dauphin Falcons will take on the Red Land Patriots at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lower Dauphin sitting on six straight wins and Red Land on five.

On Monday, Lower Dauphin made easy work of Gettysburg and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Falcons have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sadie Borrelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordan Frye was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Lacey Tobias also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Lower Dauphin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, while Red Land put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Palmyra. The Patriots blew past the Cougars 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Lower Dauphin's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Red Land, their record is now 7-2.

Lower Dauphin was able to grind out a solid win over Red Land in their previous matchup back in March, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
