After each having a week off, the Peru Nighthawks and the Beekmantown Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Peru has eight straight wins, Beekmantown has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Peru didn't have too much trouble with Saranac as they won 41-25.

Peru can attribute much of their success to Brody Blaise-Smith, who rushed for 166 yards and three scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and Jake Frechette, who threw for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. With that strong performance, Blaise-Smith is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Peru was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Beekmantown might've scored the first points last Friday, but it was Saranac Lake who claimed the real prize. The Eagles took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Storm. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Red Storm 6-0 in the first quarter.
Although Beekmantown took the loss, they still got scores from Garrett Pelkey, Blake Rock, and Hunter Porter.
Beekmantown's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Peru, their record now sits at 8-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Peru has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 224.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Beekmantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Peru against Beekmantown in their previous matchup back in September, as the team secured a 42-0 victory. Will the Nighthawks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
