West Jersey - Diamond recap Oct. 9, 2012
Penns Grove extended the longest winning streak in West Jersey - Diamond this week by beating Woodstown, 36-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Red Devils.
Corey Clement was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 162 yards on 14 carries as Glassboro fell to Penns Grove. Ronnie James also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
Mark Gillis put up the best numbers through the air as Highland Regional defeated Gloucester Catholic. He finished with two completions for 58 yards. Gillis' favorite target this week was Kerron Johnson, who caught one pass for 35 yards.
Thomas was the best wideout in the league this week as Woodstown fell to Kemp Carr's team. Thomas racked up one reception for 48 yards.
The Red Devils' Nick Elmer and Jabrail Murray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading West Jersey - Diamond in both passing and receiving yards. Elmer has thrown for 295 yards this season, while Murray, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has six catches for 119 yards. The Bulldogs' Clement leads the league in rushing yards with 1006.
Penns Grove made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 415 from 608. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 36-0 victory over John Adams' team last week.
