After soaring to 62 points the game before, the Basalt Longhorns were a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They were dealt a 51-23 defeat at the hands of Aspen. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Basalt has scored all season.
Wyatt Loomis and Calum Inglis certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Loomis scored 11 points along with three steals, while Inglis scored three points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aspen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Giovanni Seeman, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Berro, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Aspen, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt and Moffat County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Moffat County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Aspen, they will head out on the road to challenge Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Aspen is ranked 27th).
