After having lost a blowout in their previous game against J.H. Rose, the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-52 victory over New Bern. The win was all the more spectacular given Northside - Jacksonville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while New Bern is ranked 193rd).
Durice Adamson was a one-man wrecking crew for Northside - Jacksonville as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Adamson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Ritter, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
New Bern lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Xavier Cox, who scored six points along with four steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brewer Simmons, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Northside - Jacksonville's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-18. As for New Bern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.
Northside - Jacksonville will head out on the road to challenge Havelock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Bern, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against J.H. Rose at 7:30 p.m. J.H. Rose is coming into the matchup with four straight wins on the road, meaning New Bern will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
